Retsina

Retsina is the result of the synergy between the pine tree and the vine, two iconic plants of the Greek land, brought together in wine through human ingenuity. The resin contributes its aromas, the grape its character, and the winemaker, with knowledge and passion, unites them. Thus is born a unique wine that takes us back to the origins of winemaking and the enduring relationship between humankind and wine.

The Pine

The resin of the Pinus halepensis pine is the only type used in retsina production. Thanks to a winemaking technique found nowhere else in the world, this exceptional natural product creates a distinctive category of Greek wine: Retsina Appellation by Tradition.

The Vine

At the highest point of the Goumenissa region, our private vineyard in Gerakona spans 3.7 contiguous hectares, exclusively planted with a selected clone of Assyrtiko.

In this area, at an altitude of 250 meters, Assyrtiko expresses the unique terroir of the region with intensity and elegance.

By implementing practices such as green harvesting, we achieve low yields of approximately 60 hl per hectare.

The Human Element

Retsina has existed since the dawn of winemaking. A product of the synergy between grape and resin, encapsulating the flavors and aromas of a unique place, this wine has evolved over millennia, intertwined with the daily lives of its people. This process of "natural selection" has shaped the distinctive style and ritual of enjoying retsina—inseparable from food, companionship, and lively conversation.
